Netizen24.com – Entertainment Prime News: The Riveras Are Serving Pure Realness on Their New Reality Show
It’s been almost four years since singer Jenni Riveradied in a tragic plane crash in December 2012. Her five children were left to pick up the pieces and continue their mother’s legacy. The “Diva de la Banda” had her I Love Jenni reality show which was filming its third season during her untimely death. The children finished filming the season and said goodbye to reality TV for the time being.
But once 2016 rolled around, the family felt that they had enough time to heal privately and fans wanted to see them back on the small screen. “The audience kept asking and we had said that after the third season of I love Jenni we were pretty much done with it because that show isn’t I Love Jenni without my mom. And everyone would always ask when we were coming back, but I think we needed that break,” Chiquis Rivera, Jenni’s oldest daughter, explained to E! News. “We needed to go through the motions and the healing process. Then they offered it, and then I sat with our production company Blank Paige, and we came up with the idea. So I said, ‘OK, but I want to be an executive producer because I want to make sure that we’re all protected and so that we can be as open as we are.'”
The show aired Oct. 16, on NBC Universo. And if you’re expecting for the girls to be in full makeup at all times, you’re in for a surprise, because Jenni’s daughters are keeping it real with their fans.
“It was never really a decision for us, it’s just who we are. I think that we’re just comfortable and we’re OK with not faking the funk and being ourselves. We’re OK with people seeing us naked in that sense, you know, as to this is who we are and this is what we have to offer,” Chiquis said. “Sometimes I’ll go to her house and we’re filming and her hairs a mess, she’s a mom.”
The family is heavily involved in all of the projects that their mother left behind. Chiquis is following in her mother’s footsteps with a singing career in Regional Mexican music. Mikey Rivera is a signed writer and does commercial art and back at school to continue growing his career for his daughter, and he says he’s OK with being behind the scenes. Jenni’s youngest son, Johnny Lopez, is a co-producer on the late singer’s most recent album and wants to continue to work in music in his mother’s same genre. Rivera’s youngest daughter Jenicka Lopez is figuring out what she intends to do with her career and is thinking about maybe being a teacher or model while working for her mother’s fashion line. While the mother of three Jacquie Campos is busy with her children, handles the Love Foundation and is also thinking about doing a Christian album.
During the season we’ll see lots of fun moments between the siblings, but we’ll also see some very tense situations. Jacquie gives birth to her third child, a family argument escalates and Chiquis opens about the rumor that led her mother to not speak to her in the last days of her life.
You can catch all of The Riveras every sunday 10PM/9C on NBC Universo.
