Lavar Ball – father of UCLA star Lonzo Ball, says a lot of interesting things.
He has twice said his son is already better than two-time MVP Stephen Curry. He told KCUB Sports Radio 1290, on Saturday in Tucson that his son would on play for the Lakers.
Lavar Ball: “My son will only play for the Lakers.”
The elder Ball, now, is walking back those comments. Ball wasn’t being literal when saying Lonzo would on play for the Lakers – was just wishful thinking on his part…
“All I said was that my boy is going to play for the Lakers, and I’m going to speak it into existence,” LaVar Ball told ESPN on Saturday night. “I want him to be a Laker, but I wasn’t saying he’s only going to play for the Lakers…
“I’m not trying to say he won’t play for a different team,” he said. “But I’d like him to play for the Lakers because it’s home, and I’d love him to learn from Magic [Johnson]. He’s the best guard ever to me, and nobody better for Lonzo to learn from than Magic Johnson.”
Lonzo was asked about his father’s comments, and handled the question like an NBA vet…
“All I do is go out and play basketball, man,” he told ESPN.
Ball told USA TODAY Sports that the comment weren’t a distraction for him.
