Ariana Grande took social media to pour her comment about an encounter with a fan of Mac Miller, her beau who made crude comments about the singer in front of her. The two recently released their second collaboration titled My Favorite Part.
Grande posted as screenshots on Twitter, she notes that her and Miller were out grabbing food when suddenly a young boy approached as they were heading to the car. “He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the driver’s seat he was literally almost in the car with us,” she says, adding she thought the show of love and appreciation for the rapper was cute and exciting at the time.
Then, Grande continues to the upsetting par about the interaction. “He said, ‘Ariana is sexy as hell, man. I see you; I see you hitting that!!!” The pop star said she felt “sick and objectified” about the boy’s words. “Things like [that] happen all the time and are the kinds of moments that contribute to women’s sense of fear and inadequacy,” she continues.
She added that the feeling when writing this moment was important because many women are familiar with the experience of being spoken to or about in an uncomfortable way. “We need to share and be vocal when something makes us feel uncomfortable because if we don’t, it will just continue,” she writes. “We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.”
